	~~tbd~~		Selak is a believer in Federation ideals. While he is Cardassian, he feels that the Federation allows the pursuit of scientific endeavor to a greater extent than the Cardassian Union. He isn't afraid to fight if he has to, and his meticulous Cardassian nature has helped him throughout his career as both scientist and Starfleet captain.

			Despite his feelings toward the Federation, he still loves Cardassia, and enjoys the rare occasions when he is near home. He is a steadfast foe of the True Way, and is a strong supporter of the current government.

	~~tbd~~		Selak graduated Starfleet Academy with the infamous "Class of 2409". Unlike most of his fellow graduates, however, he managed to avoid assignment to the Klingon front, instead finding himself on scientific and diplomatic missions throughout the Beta Quadrant. Notable early missions had him encounter an ancient Borg cube on an ice planet, and putting down a slave ring in the Sardah system. Additionally, Selak found himself entangled with Starfleet Security missions near the world of Iffar. By the time he was promoted to captain in late 2409, he had engaged in activities near his homeworld of Cardassia, striking against the True Way.
