In some ways, this was the game that was supposed to bring a bunch of old friends back together again. When the Hyperspace Outlaws of Star Wars Galaxies closed its doors, we all kept saying we'd meet again when '''Star Trek Online''' came out. That didn't happen as strongly as one might have hoped, demonstrating that catching lightning in bottle twice is next to impossible. All of that said, however, I was able to experience the game in the Beta, and was a day-one lifetime subscriber (by which I mean, I bought one the first day it went up for purchase). While I've regretted a number of the business and development decisions that have gone into that game, it's still a game I enjoy out there on the Final Frontier.
