'''Nightstar''' was my nod to the martial-artist hero. (And I had given him that name long before ''Kingdom Come'' was released by DC Comics!) Even then, I was hoping to defy some standard concepts, though. The idea was that he was primarily a precision/dodge sort of fighter, but he would be ignorant of the fact that he could absorb the kinetic energy of impacts, which meant he was tougher than he looked. I eventually tied that theme to his entire powerset-making him a highly *ahem* kinetic hero.

Later, I'd mess with his family tree, creating a brother and [[Earthshaker|sister]] for him; in fact, his early motivations involved finding his missing sister, and his powers were originally given to him by his brother. And then I had him poisoned by an assassin from the ninja clan that had trained him-yeah, I sort of went insane with the backstory for this guy. I think if I'd gone any crazier, he would've ended up as my version of [[wikipedia:Wolverine (character)|Wolverine]].
