Later, I decided to reveal that they'd been drugged and brainwashed into it, but they'd done enough bad things that they turned themselves in to an alien government to pay their debt to their society-which consisted of them being put into their special forces.  Buzzsaw was the youngest of the group, and knew enough to stay at a relative distance while using his buzzsaw blades as throwing weapons (spare saws in a satchel at his side).
